Whakatane Racing Club – Town & Country Race Day, 17 June 2015

On behalf of the Whakatane Racing Club, I would like to sincerely thank you for your sponsorship support at our Town & Country Race Day at Te Teko Day Wednesday 17 June 2015. We hope you and your guests enjoyed the hospitality in our Sponsors’ Marquee and managed to back a winner or two. Sir Francis, trained by Lee Somervell and ridden by Michael McNab, was a clear winner of the HR Fisken and Sons Ltd 1400, getting home by 3/4 length over Go Tenna.

Once again the Sunshine Capital of NZ honoured us with a beautiful sunny winter’s day to enjoy winter racing at its best. From an original eight races programmed, entries were so abundant we ended up running 9 races to accommodate as many horses as possible, in fact these were the biggest fields we have seen across the board at Te Teko for many years.  The Club was extremely pleased with the condition of the track which was upgraded from a slow 9 to a slow 8 after Race 2, and also received plenty of praise from trainers and jockeys present on the day.

Smaller community Clubs such as Whakatane are indeed reliant on the continued support of people and organisations like you and we are truly grateful for this support. The President, Committee and Members of the Whakatane Racing Club look forward to welcoming you back to our Club in the near future.

Kind regards

Jill Cole
Secretary
Whakatane Racing Club (Inc)
